» Topklasse - Est. 21st February, 2008
The founding of Topklasse, and the rationale that led to its establishment, have been amply vindicated during the course of 2008. It has been our aim to cater for devotees and enthusiasts for both the W116 model range, spanning from 1972 right up to 1980 as well as the W107 Sports Car range which had a production period of some seventeen years, up to the time when its successor, the R129, was introduced in 1989.
» About the W116
The 116 range was the first Mercedes to be introduced to the public as the S – Class models, and started off with the six cylinder 280 engined cars, but it was not long before the 350 and 450 V8 engined models were offered to prospective purchasers. 1975 also saw the introduction of the much admired, and valued 450SEL 6.9 models, featuring the exclusive self leveling hydropneumatic suspension. The 450SE was awarded car of the year in 1974, taking into account the advanced 'zero offset' steering characteristics developed initially in the C111 Coupe range, but also the active and passive safety features designed into the cars which set the benchmark for other manufacturers to aim for.
» About the W107
With the 107 range, the initial model was the 280SL, but demand and well proven reliability of the 350 V8 engined model, soon saw the range on offer being expanded with the introduction of the SLC models, which featured a longer wheel base and effectively changed the strictly two seater SL models to a 2 plus 2, affording limited accommodation for the family man. Engines were uprated to 4.5 liters, with mechanical K-Jet fuel injection replacing the D-Jet electronic system used in the early 350 and 450 engines in the interests of reduced exhaust emissions.
» Aim of Topklasse
The aim of administration is to foster and cultivate a spirit of camaraderie, courtesy and consideration between all of its present and future members, and the exchange of meaningful and helpful information to be shared, again, with present and future owners of these classic vehicles.

In addition, 2009 will see the introduction of several new features. Of course, you still have the splendidly supported and informative forum or discussion board, but you may also choose to explore any of the following:
